The Mission of community-based Bihl Haus Arts—Creating Community through the Arts—is founded on the belief that each person, when given a chance, will achieve significant personal, social, and cultural growth through the arts.To support our mission, Bihl Haus Arts:

Nurtures and promotes the work of diverse visual and cultural artists in San Antonio;

Fosters artistic excellence and intergenerational and multicultural understanding and awareness;

Creates community between seniors enrolled in the GO! Arts program, area established and emerging artists, members of surrounding neighborhoods, and the global art culture; and

• Builds collaborations with other cultural and social service organizations to maximize access to collective resources.

‘Love and Death in Times of Pandemic’ by David Zamora Casas

November 2 - December 12

Paintings and multiple-themed, devotional altars will transform the Bihl Haus Arts Gallery into a large-scale, magnificent Dia de Muertos ofrenda by David Zamora Casas during the installation “Love and Death in Times of Pandemic/Amor y La Muerte en Tiempos de Pandemia” opening virtually at 5:30 p.m. Monday, November 2. The exhibition, which closes December 12, will host virtual events every two weeks. In addition, a maximum of 10 guests will be allowed to view the installation on-site during 30-minute slots…

Artist David Zamora Casas will moderate a poetry reading and discussion related to his Dia de los Muertos installation titled “Love and Death in Times of Pandemic/Amor y La Muerte en Tiempos de Pandemia”.

Featured guests are activist/writer Marisol Cortez and Deborah Kaercher, executive director of Transitions and Decisions. Cortez is also a creative writer, editor, and community scholar whose work walks between artistic, activist, and academic worlds.
