The Mission of community-based Bihl Haus Arts—Creating Community through the Arts—is founded on the belief that each person, when given a chance, will achieve significant personal, social, and cultural growth through the arts.To support our mission, Bihl Haus Arts:

Nurtures and promotes the work of diverse visual and cultural artists in San Antonio;

Fosters artistic excellence and intergenerational and multicultural understanding and awareness;

Creates community between seniors enrolled in the GO! Arts program, area established and emerging artists, members of surrounding neighborhoods, and the global art culture; and

• Builds collaborations with other cultural and social service organizations to maximize access to collective resources.

Bihl Haus Arts

How many of you checked out Danville's studio during #OnandOffFred?Happy #FredArtistFriday! This week we're highlighting the talented Danville Chadbourne. Primarily a sculptor in clay and wood, Chadbourne works in a range of materials and in both two- and three-dimensional formats. Over the years he has created a complex body of work unified by a primal iconography and artifact-like quality emerging from a very personal and consistent formal, aesthetic and philosophical sense.

His most recent exhibition can be seen through May 24 at Villa Finale featuring thirteen recently completed outdoor works. The exhibition emphasizes Chadbourne’s typical integration of organic and geometric forms, juxtaposing bold color and graphic imagery with the natural surface qualities of high-fire ceramic, stone, and bronze.
