Welcome to On & Off Fred
On & Off Fredericksburg Road Studio Tour — affectionately known as On & Off Fred — is San Antonio’s premier neighborhood studio tour, celebrating local working artists in the vibrant communities along and around the Fredericksburg Road Corridor. Each spring, artists open their studios to the public, businesses showcase resident artists on their walls, and over 1,000 visitors explore one of the city’s most culturally rich corridors. This is a relaxed, relationship-building event: a chance to share your process, connect directly with collectors and neighbors, and become part of a growing creative community.

Who Can Participate
On & Off Fred welcomes working artists and arts-friendly businesses across the Fredericksburg Road corridor. **Check the tour area map at bihlhaus.org to confirm your eligibility before applying.**
Individual Artists
Artists working in studios, homes, or shared spaces within the tour neighborhoods. You may also display one piece in the Bihl Haus Gallery during the exhibition period (work must be priced at $1,500 or under; sales split 70/30 artist/gallery).
Artist Collectives
A recognized collective — such as Hausmann Millworks — will receive a shared listing and map location. Individual artists within a collective who wish to have a gallery piece, catalog image, and map listing must pay the participation fee and apply separately. Artists who do not pay a fee should not apply individually; the collective’s representative will manage their tour information.
Businesses & Galleries
Businesses and galleries within the tour area are invited to host out-of-neighborhood artists during the tour. Participating businesses who pay the fee receive a map location and catalog listing.
Outside the Tour Area?
No problem. Artists outside the defined map area may still apply — we will find an appropriate host location for you within the corridor.

Artist Requirements
By submitting an application, all participating artists agree to the following:
- Be present (or have a representative present) during all tour hours on both Saturday and Sunday.
- Maintain an online presence — a website or dedicated professional social media page that showcases the type of work you’ll be selling during the tour.
- Promote the tour by distributing postcards, sharing social media posts from On & Off Fred’s Facebook and Instagram, and sharing press releases and event announcements provided by the committee.
- Obtain all required licenses and permits for your location and comply with applicable city and county ordinances, including tax collection. (Contact us with questions.)
- Grant permission to publish your name, artist information, and images of your artwork in the Tour Digital Map, printed catalog, tour website, and general promotional materials.
- Join the private 2027 On & Off Fred Facebook Group to stay informed — the majority of tour communications are delivered via email, and artists are responsible for reading them.
- Acknowledge that participation does not guarantee sales, and the tour, its planners, and sponsors bear no responsibility for sales outcomes.
- Gallery artists: Work displayed at Bihl Haus Gallery must be for sale and priced at $1,500 or under. Sales follow a 70/30 split (artist/gallery).
How to Apply
- Review the tour map at bihlhaus.org to confirm your location falls within the eligible tour area.
- Complete the online application here and submit your artwork images (images will be used in tour advertising).
- Pay the Early Bird fee of $30 by midnight June 5, 2026, or the standard fee of $40 by October 15, 2026.
- Watch for email communications from the committee — and join the private Facebook Group to stay connected.
