Posing Stories: An Exhibition by Pearl Sanchez
Closing: Saturday July 11th, 2026 5pm-8pm
Bihl Haus Arts hosts a closing reception for “Posing Stories,” featuring new works by artist
Pearla Sanchez from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, July 11th at the Bihl Haus Gallery, 2803 Fredericksburg Road.
For Sanchez, “Posing Stories” draws its inspiration from hundreds of sketches that the artist has created over
the years. “I thought it would be neat to weave them together as stories,” she said.
The exhibition includes six life-sized mannequins with drawings and writings on them, as well as 12 paintings
on Masonite. Other works include a rack of clothes, such as men’s shirts and women’s dresses and skirts, that
Sanchez has painted.
“I do a goddess series and paintings about men’s and women’s professions,” Sanchez said of the clothes she
has painted.
About the Artist
Pearl Sanchez is a graduate of Antioch College, and a recipient of the Rocky Mountain Women’s Institute Art
Grant. Her work is influenced by her culture, religion and time spent in Bolivia as a Peace Corps volunteer, in
New Mexico, and in Guatemala as an exporter of indigenous textiles. Color, pattern, religious imagery and
women’s stories are the driving forces in her work.

“Mimosas & Monarchs” Fundraiser
Celebrating Texas Wildflowers and the Season’s Most Iconic Butterfly
Join Bihl Haus Arts for an afternoon of art, mimosas, and good company with art educator
Wardell Picquet during a “Mimosas & Monarchs” fundraiser from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 23 at the gallery,
2803 Fredericksburg Road. The event celebrates Texas wildflowers and the season’s most iconic butterfly.
In this relaxed, beginner-friendly session, you’ll paint a vibrant scene featuring the Texas state wildflower — the
Indian paintbrush — in full bloom, alongside a monarch butterfly in flight against a clear blue sky. No drawing
experience needed: canvases come pre-sketched so you can focus entirely on color, brushwork, and having
fun.
“Whether you’ve never picked up a brush or you paint on weekends, this session is designed to be
approachable, social, and a little bit beautiful,” Executive Director Nicholas Gonzales said. “Your ticket makes a
difference. Bihl Haus Arts provides free art classes to older adults, veterans, and neurodivergent adults in San
Antonio. Every ticket purchased directly supports keeping those programs free and accessible for the people
who need them most.”
