What is Onward Arts?
Onward Arts is an educational program designed for neurodivergent adults to create original artwork and develop artistic techniques. Neurodivergence describes the natural variation in neurological traits and cognitive functions that differ from what is considered “typical.” This includes (but is not limited to) autism, ADHD, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, epilepsy, dyslexia, sensory processing differences, and many others.
These FREE, hands-on classes provide neurodivergent adults a welcoming space for creative self-expression.
Onward Arts IS::
- Participatory, discussion-filled, and making-based
- Led by professional artists and teachers
- An opportunity to learn artistic techniques and principles
- Fun!
Onward Arts is NOT:
- A lecture-based class
- An in-depth dive into any single topic
- A graded or scored program
- A certificate or degree program
A Collaboration with NeurospicySA
Onward Arts is proudly presented in collaboration with NeurospicySA, a grassroots organization dedicated to forging a society where neurodivergent adults in the San Antonio area feel connected, supported, and valued. Through inclusive programs, strong peer communities, helpful networking events, and environments that nurture mental health and overall well-being, NeurospicySA offers free in-person and online events including peer support groups, adult socials, professional networking opportunities, and volunteer programs.
