As a community-based organization whose mission is “Creating Community through the Arts,” Bihl Haus Arts builds collaborations with other cultural and social service organizations to maximize access to collective resources. Bihl Haus Arts is a key organizer and co-founder of the annual On and Off Fredericksburg Road Studio Tour (2008 to present), and is co-founder with Jim LaVilla Havelin of National Poetry Month San Antonio (2008 to present). Bihl Haus Arts also regularly participates in City-wide festivals, including Fotoseptiembre (2006, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014), CAM (2006 to present); Print Month (2007); Women’s History Month (2006, 2007, 2008); Black History Month (2008); Luminaria (2008, 2009, 2010); Monticello Park Home Tour (2006); Fiesta Home Tour (2008, 2009); and Seeing Art San Antonio (2006-2008).
Bihl Haus Arts also offers its facilities for meetings to various local organizations, including the SA Chapter of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State; the Non-Profit Resource Center; the Office of Cultural Affairs (now the DCCD); the Neighborhood Resource Center; the Martinez Creek Sub-Committee; and other neighborhood and area civic and arts groups.
Bihl Haus Director Kellen Kee McIntyre currently serves on the SALSA (Successful Ageing and Living in San Antonio), an initiative developed by the San Antonio Area Foundation with support from the Santikos Foundation. Bihl Haus Arts was selected to participate in the 2017 Arts Leadership Development & Strategy Program offered through the City of San Antonio Department for Arts and Culture. It also participated in the 18-month Incubation Program sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs.
